ABOUT THIS ITEM

Magic Wand is a secretive side label project from Is It Balearic? This is their sixth release in the celebrated occasional series, and comes jam-packed with four fantastic Balearic / disco wonders, respectfully extended and amended. While Is It Balearic? is the place to find original music, Magic Wand gives the label's roster of producers an outlet for reworks and edits of other people's music.

Up first is "Simple Man" re-edited by Coyote Edit. Sitting somewhere between 70s denim-clad Americana singer-songwriters, soft-rock pop 80s alt-pop, this is as catchy as it is groovy. A hit! For their next edit Coyote bring us the dreamy soft-psych of "Daylight" - acoustic guitars, synth flutes, a simple bassline, beatdown rhythm and sublime vocal harmonies. One for the Pink Floyd fans. "Africa Africa" (The△EDIT - Mori-ra & Ground) changes tack on the flipside, mixing African spoken word with dubbed-out, percussive tribal rhythms and shards of psych guitar. Voodoo music. Closing the EP we get "Slowly Grail (Groove Me Rework)", and electrodisco / Italo mash-up that mixes synth arpeggios with 'toot toot beep beeps' from Donna Summer and percussion from Lipps Inc.
